DAY-DATE
Day-Date: a language of colour
The red dial in this photograph holds the eye before any other detail. Around it, a fluted bezel catches the light in a repeating pattern, while the rounded bracelet links carry that rhythm away from the case. The day and date remain clear anchors within an unusually vivid composition.
Rolex introduced the Day-Date in 1956 with the day of the week written in full alongside the date. Our photographs explore the visual possibilities within that recognisable format: restrained dark faces, bright colour, patterned surfaces and sparkling details. Seen together, the images are a study in how much personality can fit inside a familiar outline.
